The Safety/Compliance Coordinator is responsible for planning, implementing, and overseeing company’s employee safety program. They are to ensure that the company complies and adheres to Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) guidelines to reduce work-related injuries. Your main goal will be to always ensure safe working environment and prevent any injuries and accidents.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Plan and implement OHS policies and programs
  • Advise and lead employees on various safety-related topics
  • Review existing policies and procedures
  • Adhere to all the rules and regulations
  • Work with HR to set up a new employee on-boarding process for safety
  • Conduct risk assessment
  • Prepare and present reports on accidents and violations and determine causes
  • Create and implement safety plans while ensuring that they are being followed daily
  • Conduct safety observation reports on a regular basis, depending on the length of the project
  • Conduct safety walks and inspections
  • Educate employees on safety standards and expectations as well as safe machinery operation
  • Provide recommendations for improving safety in the workplace
  • Investigate accidents that occur onsite and identify possible causes of the accident
  • Maintain documentation of the company’s safety procedures, accidents, and related events
  • Act as a liaison between management and external safety agencies, such as fire and insurance personnel
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including public speaking and presentation
  • Understanding of federal, state and city safety requirements, including OSHA
  • Interpersonal skills, establishing professional relationships with employees and managers
  • Advise on provisions to minimize safety risks
  • Develop and enforce OSH policies (e.g., accident reporting process)
  • Direct accident investigation procedures
  • Keep records of safety-related incidents and propose corrective actions
  • Organize and conduct OSH training plans
  • Collaborate with managers to monitor compliance and identify safety issues
  • Intervene in unsafe activities or operations
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent documentation and communication skills.
  • Helps others by answering questions and responding to requests.
  • Enforces adherence to requirements and advises management on needed actions.
  • Manage the Key-fob and the Entra Pass process
  • Monitor cameras after accidents or near misses
  • Investigate, log, and resolve alleged and actual theft
  • Ability to respond well to emergency situations
  • Involved with the training and licensing of power equipment to new employees
  • Maintain data base for equipment training and update weekly

Qualifications and Skills

  • Minimum 2 years of experience as a safety/compliance coordinator in fast paced distribution center / light assembly environment.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills.
  • Excellent communication and time management skills.
  • Ability to coordinate and communicate with teams working different shifts across a 24/7 schedule.
  • Must be capable of working independently and in a team environment.
  • Proven track record of implementing improvement ideas.
  • Some afterhours and weekend work needed during two peak seasons.

Salary Range: $36,000 – $44,000
